For this New Moon and start of the Year of the Dragon it seems appropriate that the Muse Clio has come knocking at my door. She trumpets in the 6th visitation from her sisterhood of nine and opens the door of the new year with the hidden side of the coin of Resolutions: Expectations. I have no clue how Clio plans to assist me in running this latest gauntlet but she must have heard my query when I was caught off guard by a friend’s comment that she counted on me living up to her expectations as a role model . Whoa ! This immediately brought to mind information shared by an intuitive while doing a reading for me years ago: “You put people on a pedestal and then you’re surprised when they fall off !” She was absolutely right. My expectations wear a different form now, but I’ve never considered being put on a pedestal myself and I certainly know there’s no way I wouldn’t fall off too. Now with Clio’s muted prompting that perhaps another future clamors to be written the spectre of Expectations echoes it’s insistence on clarification. What surprises me most is the realization that I no longer carry expectations under my belt. Why? Because for better or worse I can’t think of a single expectation that hasn’t fallen off of it’s pedestal at some point. I guess somewhere along the line I traded in my game board for an open field of play. It still comes with all the scrapes and bruises but I can guarantee it will be full of surprises I’ll never expect ! So Clio – the door is open with an invitation for your last three straggler sisters too. Let’s fingerpaint the new 2012 horizon together and make it a treat for all.
