With the vernal equinox having just passed, and the shifting of the seasons from winter to spring taken place we are reminded of Nature’s order. Thus Order is this 11th of my 16 blogs regarding couples compatibilty. Unlike the order most of us choose to impose throughout our lives, nature’s order always contains an element of change – just like the seasons. We don’t have to look far to see that a similar emphasis on change seems to have become the order of the day. Our flawed ideals of a life of order and control are becoming fractured all around us. The strength of relationships today needs to be rebuilt on new foundations of more constant flexibilty. As an artist, I’ve always derived pleasure from creative chaos in any event, and usually find orderly environments to be suffocatingly boring. Nature never created acreage with manicured, chemically treated lawns free from “weeds” or filled with uniformly symmetrical plants. I can easily feel comfortable as a creature of habit myself but those chosen rhythms or patterns serve only as a surfboard to maintain some semblance of balance as the waves of life crash around, propel forward, or even envelop daily goals. I would guess that it is in achieving these goals that the rudiments of order need to be hashed out for compatible partnership. Plans, timelines, divisions of labor, behavior towards one another and society in general (including spiritual and recreational choices) all are dependent upon an agreed order for maximum ease of facility. Perhaps it is precisely because order is an influence that touches so many areas of our lives (I found 55 definitions of order in one dictionary) that partnerships which endure seem to follow Nature’s example and adapt with the changes of the “seasons” of life as each person grows and changes individually.
