Acceptance

Acceptance, like Fat Tuesday/Ash Wednesday includes two sides of one coin whether win or lose, so I’ve chosen it as #9 of my 16 Finding My Soulmate blogs. Sometimes when we receive the “goods” we luck out and a wonderful job, partner, love, gifts, praise or abundance come our way with no holds barred. More commonly there are limitations, challenges, differences, or even strings attached that require an “it is what it is” acceptance. I prefer the phrase “go with the flow” (as in the Tao). I have no desire to impose my beliefs or lifestyle on others although I enjoy trading ideas, life experiences, questions and opinions as much as the next person. Just as I stand behind my own truth, I always allow that another’s truth is as solid a reality for them as mine for me, and I expect to receive equal respect in return. I’m completely behind “How can I make your world better ?”; but if the answer is by accepting mistreatment, disrespect and implied superiority/inferiority, then I can’t play along. Acceptance of inhumanity is apathy. In my opinion it doesn’t work in familial, social, spiritual, political or economic arenas. Nothing can ruin a celebration or enjoyable event quicker for me than being with someone who feels the need to belittle or mistreat other people or animals in this fashion. If you accept and embrace the Fat Tuesday of life with joy and gratitude then I’ll be right there with you. On the flip side if you must have the world kowtow to your every whim then I don’t have to be Christian to put your name at the top of a list of bad habits to give up for Lent.

About dreamingmoon

I, Aurora Dreaming Moon am a Dreamer, Sister, Lover, Mother, Grandmother and sometime Writer, Poet, Artist, Musician...who at the age of 11 made my first conscious choice to seek the path of Truth by throwing a yarrow stick reading for my youthfully petulant demand of : "Tell me the purpose of life now or I'm out of here !" The spirits in all their wisdom and humour responded in kind with the complete changing hexagram : Ch'ien to K'un which I interpreted to mean "...a complete understanding of the universe ". Thus appropriately chastised, though laughingly mollified and defeated in my attempt at an easy way out, I was lovingly set back on this never ending journey we call life. I am still trying to accomplish my assignment :) What you'll find in these blogs are just sharings of some of my most heartfelt experiences along the way. May they be of service to all reader pilgrims who cross this path.
